1991 is drawing to a close. Ready or not, Christmas is only days away. Our household has gotten smaller this year and our family will soon be getting larger. We continue to live in Florida and life has been good to us here - a little hot at times but never too cold. As in many years past, the keyword again in 1991 has been TRAVEL. We hope you have all also had a good year with lots of added memories too.
Bennie has lived in California all year. He did take a trip to North Dakota and to Tennessee early this year and also spent a week in Colorado on another trip. Bennie will complete his Navy enlistment in early 1992 and then plans to move to Florida too. It will be great having him nearby again!
Jessy and Mark have been everywhere! Jessy began the year here at home for a visit. Mark was in the Persian Gulf last Christmas. After the holidays, Jessy returned to Yokosuka, Japan to wait for Mark to come home. After the war was over, Mark's ship, the USS Midway, returned to Japan too. Jessy went to Hong Kong to meet him. Later in the year, Mark and the Midway came back to the states, the Midway to retire and Mark to another ship. Jessy moved their home to San Diego at the same time. Jessy came to see us and then Jan drove across country with her to help her get settled in San Diego. Jan flew home after Jessy was settled and Mark finally arrived. Jessy and Mark then took a long car trip, driving to North Dakota and on to Ohio visiting. They were caught in the season's first snowstorm somewhere in western Kansas. Jessy called this week to say that its official - her and Mark are expecting a family addition in 1992!
April graduated from high school, Magna cum Laude with honors! She is now attending Florida State University at Tallahassee. Since she's not to far away, we have seen her frequently when she suddenly shows up for a weekend. She's home for the holidays now. Looks like April is taking well to college, she's doing well there and she's enjoying herself.
Joy played her violin in concert for us last night. She will play again tonight. She now attends the Ormond Beach Middle School and stays busy with friends and school. Joy also is doing volunteer work at a JC's sponsored Santa Land house for area children. She has been doing this for three years now and really enjoys herself there.
Nicole is at the Pine Trails Elementary school. She still swims with the YMCA Swim Team. Between practicing and swim meets, she's a busy little girl. She did find time to write to Santa Claus though and she's counting the days to Christmas.
Jan does lots of work with the swim team, so she's on the go all the time too. She was elected to our church council this year and continues doing all kinds of needlework. Besides her trip to San Diego, She traveled with all of us to North Dakota and Minnesota in July. Our borrowed daughter from France came to see us again and traveled with us. Christine said that she loved the trip but that it was too far to go by car - next time we should fly!
I've continued to work on the yard and gardens here as a hobby. Its a great change of pace from the office and very relaxing. Business travel has kept me on the move too. This year, I visited Philadelphia, Dallas (twice), Oklahoma and California. While in California, I spent a great weekend with Bennie, Jessy and Mark up in the mountains at Sequoia, Kings Canyon and Yosemite Parks.
HAPPY NEW YEAR
